The Fastest Way Down A Snowless Mountain!
Colorado is known for its amazing snow capped Rocky Mountains (and we all absolutely love the view!). But now that all that powder has melted, we are left to discover what else we can do besides ski, snow shoe and snowboard along the runs. A few resorts offer the perfect way to utilize the dry mountain sides:
Just imagine bobsledding, but in a cement shoot, down a mountain, in a plastic sled. Don’t worry- there’s a break. 🙂
Winter Park Resort boasts of having the longest alpine slide in Colorado- 3,000 feet long! After enjoying a 6 minute ride to the top, that’s one heck of a way to ride down the mountain.
Breckenridge Resort also offers a 3 different alpine slides to choose from, all roughly 2,600 feet long. Here you can speed down the mountain on a variety of dips and banked turns. One other thing they offer besides the slides is the Gold Runner Alpine Coaster. That’s right, folks! With this ride, you are fixed to the track (unlike the slides), but you can also control your speed through the turns and twists. Its elevated tracks rush you down 2,500 feet of mountainside either alone or with a partner.
These few options are just scratching at the surface of what you can enjoy at resorts during the off season. There’s also great mountain biking, lift riding, and much more!
