Raft Some Rapids This Summer!
Looking for a more extreme adventure this summer? How about a little white water rafting trip down one of the amazing rivers Colorado has provided us with?
This time of year is the warmest the water will ever be, so why not take advantage of that crisp mountain run off and jump on in a raft? There’s plenty of options for different companies to go through just outside of the city.
Ft Collins is conveniently located close to the Cache La Poudre river and Estes Park. One company, Mountain Whitewater Descents, boasts of having a permit to cruise the Cache La Poudre through the Roosevelt National Forest– a very secluded and scenic route. These guys also offer a wide variety of trip options, from the “Plunge” (a 12 mile trip that cover class II, III and IV rapids for half a day), the “Splash” (a great trip for beginners and families), and even full day and two day trips. They also offer kayaking and paddle boards for those of us that aren’t as keen on rapids. Check this company out if you’re looking for a good time in this area!
In Idaho Springs, closer to Boulder and Denver, is a great company as well called Clear Creek Rafting that trips for beginners to class V expert rafters. They take trips down Clear Creek, which is described as a steep, narrow, technical river that is both challenging and fun. This river offers more rapids than the commercially rafted rivers in the state and is complimented by great Colorado scenery and a trip through a historic mining valley. CCR company offers great adventure in the Colorado Rocky Mountains just 30 minutes away from Denver. They also offer trips down at the Royal Gorge down the Arkansas River, which is one of America’s number on white water rafting destinations.
River Runners is also a great company to look at if you’re wanting to adventure closer to Colorado Springs. They also offer trips through the Royal Gorge, as well at in Buena Vista. This company has received 5 stars for outstanding day trips through trip advisor and appears to be very family friendly!
